The Parasound HCA-750A is a high-current power amplifier designed for audiophiles seeking clean, detailed sound with substantial power output. It delivers 75 watts RMS per channel into 8 ohms in stereo mode and 250 watts RMS into 8 ohms in bridged mono mode. The amplifier features direct-coupled circuitry with no capacitors or inductors in the signal path, ensuring the cleanest possible sound. It uses hand-matched complementary JFETs in the input stage and eight beta-matched 15 amp, 50 MHz bipolar output transistors. The power supply includes a massive 500 VA toroidal transformer with independent secondary windings for each channel and 28,000 µF of power supply filter capacitance. The HCA-750A operates in high-bias Class A/AB mode, includes DC servo and relay protection circuits, and has gold-plated RCA input jacks and speaker binding posts. It also features rear-mounted gain controls, a ground lift switch, and automatic 12V DC turn-on circuitry. The amplifier is THX certified by Lucasfilm Ltd. and has a dual-mono circuit board layout with independent power supplies for each channel.
