The Parasound Halo JC1+ is a flagship monoblock power amplifier designed by legendary John Curl, featuring ultra-high bias Class A/AB operation with 25 watts of pure Class A power before switching to Class AB. It delivers 450 watts into 8 ohms, 850 watts into 4 ohms, and 1300 watts into 2 ohms, maintaining full power down to 2 Hz for unrestricted low-end bass. The amplifier employs a cascode driver stage for superior linearity and bandwidth, and uses 24 beta-matched bipolar output transistors. It features a direct coupled signal path with no capacitors or inductors in the signal path, JFET input stage connected to a MOSFET driver stage, and multiple independent power supplies for input, driver, and output stages. The power supply includes a 2.1 kVA shielded toroidal transformer and massive filter capacitors totaling over 108,000 µF for the output stage. Inputs include stereo RCA and XLR, with gain selectable between 23 dB and 29 dB for compatibility with various preamps and speakers. The amplifier weighs 83 pounds and measures 17-5/8" W x 7-3/4" H x 21-1/2" D. It is built to extremely strict quality standards, offering a profoundly powerful and musical performance with very low distortion (0.15% THD) and stable operation down to 2 ohms or below.
