The Paradigm Studio 40 v2 is a 2.5-way bookshelf speaker featuring a smaller cabinet than the Studio 60 v2, resulting in less bass output but maintaining the same driver topology. It measures 21" H x 8" W x 12" D and weighs approximately 40 lbs each. The v2 version includes improved cabinetry with extra internal bracing, enhanced crossovers, and minor driver tweaks for better power handling and performance. The speaker uses a 25-mm pure-aluminum dome tweeter and a mica-loaded polymer (MLP) cone bass/midrange driver with dual magnets and ferro-fluid cooling to minimize distortion. The design allows the bass driver to cut out at 400 Hz, with the bass/midrange driver continuing up to 1.5 kHz. It has a sensitivity of about 92 dB, making it efficient and suitable for low-powered or class D amplifiers. The Studio 40 v2 is praised for its clear, natural, and uncolored sound with a full, lively presentation and dynamic range. It is well-braced, beautifully finished, and considered aesthetically pleasing, with the grills enhancing both appearance and sound smoothness.
