The Paradigm ADP-450 is a dipole surround speaker from Paradigm's Reference Studio series, designed to deliver spacious and immersive surround sound. It features a 4-driver, 2-way design with two 6.75-inch MLP mica-polymer cone mid/bass drivers and two 1-inch PAL pure-aluminum dome tweeters with diecast heatsink chassis and ferro-fluid cooling. The speaker uses a 3rd order electro-acoustic crossover at 1.5 kHz to blend the drivers. It offers an on-axis frequency response of 75 Hz to 20 kHz and a low-frequency extension down to 50 Hz (DIN). Sensitivity is rated at 90 dB in room and 87 dB anechoic, with an impedance compatible with 8 ohms. The recommended amplifier power range is 15 to 175 watts, with a maximum input power of 130 watts. The cabinet weighs approximately 56 lbs (26 kg) and measures 14" high by 11.5" wide by 9" deep (35.6 cm x 27.9 cm x 22.9 cm). The ADP-450 is designed to be wall-mountable and provides a unique dipole surround sound experience by firing sound both forward and rearward, creating a spacious and natural surround field without localization of individual sounds. It is noted for its timbre match with other Paradigm Reference Studio speakers and its ability to simulate cinema surround sound with high fidelity and resolution. This model is no longer in production but remains highly regarded in the used market for home theater surround applications.
