About the RD2900
The Panasonic RD-2900 is a direct drive automatic turntable originally made in Japan, known for its fully automatic operation including auto start, automatic return, auto shut-off, and auto repeat play with a memo-repeat knob and manual play option. It features a back electromotive force frequency generator servo DC motor with IC chips, providing strong and stable rotation. The turntable weighs approximately 15.4 lbs and has dimensions of 17-7/8" W x 14-1/2" D x 5-7/8" H. The tonearm is a universal tubular static-balanced type with an effective length of 9-1/16 inches and an overhang of 19/32 inches, designed to minimize tracking error. It supports adjustable stylus pressure from 0 to 3 grams and cartridge weights from 5.5 to 8.5 grams. The cartridge is a moving magnetic stereo type with a frequency response of 20 to 25,000 Hz, output voltage of 2.5 mV at 1 kHz, channel separation of 2 dB, and channel balance within 2 dB at 1 kHz. The turntable operates on 120VAC, 50-60 Hz power supply with a power consumption of 6W. It is noted for quiet and smooth controls, strong motor, and reliable automatic mechanics including lift and arm motion. The RD-2900 is essentially a Panasonic-branded version of the Technics SL-1900 with a wood base, appreciated for its sound quality and build.
