About the EPC-450C-II
The EPC-450C-II is a semiconductor strain-gauge cartridge by Panasonic designed for high-fidelity audio playback. It features a nude Shibata diamond stylus mounted on a lightweight titanium stylus lever, which is fused to a duralumin-like metal tube with a diameter of 0.35mm. The cartridge has an outstanding frequency response range from approximately 10 Hz to 50 kHz, providing remarkable separation and clarity across the audio spectrum. It tracks optimally at a stylus force between 1.5 to 2.5 grams, with a cartridge mass of about 3.75 to 3.8 grams. The output voltage is around 1.44 mV at 1 cm/sec velocity, with a channel balance of 1 dB and crosstalk around 17 dB. The cartridge is noted for its high trackability at various frequencies and low distortion, making it suitable for audiophiles seeking detailed and dynamic sound reproduction. The EPC-450C-II was packaged uniquely and is compatible with quadraphonic and stereo systems.
