About the BR12 Mat

The Oyaide BR-12 turntable mat is made from a tungsten compound butyl rubber, combining excellent vibration absorption with a tapered design to correct warping of vinyl records. It features a 1.0° taper angle from the center to the edge and 18 tuning holes arranged in a spiral pattern to enhance vibration attenuation and sound quality. The mat has an outer diameter of 294mm, thickness of 5mm, and weighs approximately 385 grams. The tapered shape helps the mat tightly adhere to warped records, stabilizing stylus movement and improving groove tracing. The tuning holes also serve as finger rests for easy removal of 10-inch or EP records. The BR-12 comes with a PP coated paper stroboscope and overhang gauge printed on the package to assist in turntable setup. It is compatible with many record players without requiring tonearm height adjustment due to its standard thickness. The mat is recommended to be used with a record stabilizer weighing over 300 grams for optimal contact and performance. Released in 2012, the BR-12 builds on Oyaide's earlier MJ-12 aluminum mat and BR-ONE butyl rubber sheet, incorporating tungsten to further enhance damping and sound quality.
