About the MC A Mono
The Ortofon MC A Mono is a specialized moving coil cartridge engineered exclusively for mono record playback. Unlike stereo cartridges which can introduce crosstalk, noise, phase errors, and distortion when playing mono records, the MC A Mono produces a single signal directed to both channels, resulting in a more forceful, stable, and noiseless sound. The cartridge features a Replicant 100 diamond stylus on a Boron cantilever, Aucurum coils of gold-plated 6NX oxygen-free copper, and an SLM Titanium body manufactured using selective laser melting technology. It incorporates Ortofon's patented Wide Range Damping (WRD) system with a platinum disc sandwiched between rubber absorbers of different properties, which virtually eliminates distortion and resonance across the entire frequency spectrum. The cartridge is unaffected by vertical groove movement, reducing the impact of dust and wear on playback quality. It is part of Ortofon's Exclusive Series and draws design inspiration from the MC A95 cartridge.
