The Ortofon MC 90X is a high-end, limited-edition moving coil (MC) phono cartridge that builds on the legendary MC A90 from 2008. It features a minimalist stainless steel body crafted via Selective Laser Melting (SLM) technology for enhanced rigidity and resonance control, weighing 9.5 grams. Key technologies include the Field Stabilizing Element (FSE) for stable magnetic field and improved channel separation, Wide Range Damping (WRD) system with platinum disc and proprietary rubber dampers for superior tracking and minimal distortion, Boron cantilever, and Ortofon Replicant 100 diamond stylus (r/R 5/100 μm) for exceptional precision, transparency, and frequency response. Designed for medium to very heavy tonearms (effective mass >12-15 g), it delivers neutral, detailed sound with outstanding dynamics and immersive audio quality. Quad coils with Aucurum (gold-plated 6NX OFC) wire ensure low output suited for high-gain phono stages.
