The SPU Synergy GM phono cartridge modernizes the classic SPU design with several optimizations for improved compatibility and sonic purity. It features a wood-based housing combined with a resin composite, and a revised generator system that allows a maximum output voltage of 0.5 mV, reducing the need for high gain transformers or active preamplification. The cartridge uses a highly polished Nude Elliptical stylus with a reduced tip mass, resulting in lower vertical tracking force (VTF) and enhanced tracking ability. It maintains the original SPU's visual and design elements while employing modern materials and technology to improve performance. This cartridge is particularly favored by audiophiles using vintage valve equipment and horn or reflex speakers.
