The Orchard Audio ApplePi DAC is a premium digital-to-analog converter designed exclusively for use with Raspberry Pi and similar single-board computers. It employs dual Texas Instruments Burr Brown PCM1794A DAC chips configured in monaural mode to deliver exceptional audio fidelity with a signal-to-noise ratio of 128dB and total harmonic distortion plus noise (THD+N) below 0.0005%. The DAC supports sample rates of 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4, and 192 kHz and bit depths of 16 and 24 bits. It offers both balanced mini XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs, driven by dual differential output stages for superior sound quality. The design includes ultra-low noise linear regulation and a low jitter PLL clock generation system using a Cirrus Logic CS2300 clock IC. Power consumption is approximately 4.5W at 5V.
