About the RDV-1

The Onkyo RDV-1 is a premium DVD player released around 2000, featuring THX Ultra certification for superior audio and video performance. It supports multiple disc formats including DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, SACD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and VCD. The player uses a dual-laser pickup and high-quality Apogee audio D/A converters with 192kHz/24-bit DAC capability, employing Vector Linear Conversion (VLC) technology for accurate DVD-Audio playback. It offers a signal-to-noise ratio of 112dB, dynamic range of 106dB, and total harmonic distortion of 0.002%. Video outputs include component, S-Video, composite, and HDMI connections, with progressive scan video output. Digital audio outputs are coaxial and optical. The unit measures approximately 435 x 123 x 381 mm and weighs about 12.1 kg. It comes with a remote control and is noted for excellent audio performance when paired with compatible surround preamps and power amplifiers. The RDV-1 is no longer in production but remains respected for its high fidelity and build quality.
