The Onkyo PR-SC5508 is a high-end 9.2-channel AV preamplifier/processor designed for advanced home theater systems. It features THX Ultra2 Plus certification and supports all major audio codecs including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. The unit includes eight HDMI 1.4a inputs with full 3D capability and two HDMI outputs, supporting 1080p/24Hz video, Deep Color, x.v.Color, lip-sync, DVD-Audio, SACD, and HDMI-CEC. It incorporates an HQV Reon-VX video processor for 1080p upscaling and ISFccc video calibration for precise picture tuning. Audio performance is enhanced by six Burr-Brown 192kHz/32-bit DACs, direct and pure audio modes, and Audyssey MultEQ XT32 room correction with DSX, Dynamic EQ, and Volume. The processor supports multi-room audio with three-zone outputs and includes a built-in phono stage. Connectivity includes multiple digital inputs (4 optical, 3 coaxial), USB inputs (front and rear), balanced XLR and RCA preamp outputs for 9.2 channels, Ethernet for network streaming (DLNA 1.5, Windows 7 compatible), and RS-232 for automation. It supports internet radio services such as Pandora, Rhapsody, Napster, and Sirius. The unit measures approximately 17-1/8" W x 7-7/8" H x 19-5/16" D, weighs about 30.9 lbs, and comes with a learning/multibrand remote and on-screen display for easy setup. This processor is designed to be paired with external amplifiers such as Onkyo's PA-MC5509 for full system power.
