About the P-3000R

The Onkyo P-3000R is a two-channel reference preamplifier with a built-in DAC and MM phono stage, designed to handle both analog and digital sources at high resolution. It provides multiple analog line inputs, a moving-magnet phono input for vinyl playback, and a tape loop, along with six digital inputs: AES/EBU, USB for PC audio, two coaxial, and two optical. Separate 192 kHz/32-bit Burr-Brown DACs per channel are used for precise digital-to-analog conversion, and the unit offers dual stereo pre-outs for flexible connection and bi-amp configurations. The design incorporates DIDRC (Dynamic Intermodulation Distortion Reduction Circuitry), low-jitter clocking and PLL-based circuitry to reduce digital noise and jitter, plus a rigid, vibration-resistant chassis and physically separated digital and analog sections to minimize interference. A front-panel display, tone controls, 12V trigger out, and high-quality gold-plated terminals round out the feature set. The P-3000R was offered in black and silver finishes and is intended to be partnered with a separate power amplifier such as Onkyo's M-5000R.
