The Onkyo DV-CP802 is a six-disc universal DVD/CD/SACD/DVD-Audio carousel changer aimed at audiophiles and home theater users, capable of playing DVD-Video, DVD-R/-RW, DVD+R/+RW, Video CD, SACD (multi-channel), DVD-Audio, standard CDs, CD-R/RW, and MP3- and WMA-encoded CDs as well as JPEG picture CDs. It employs a 108 MHz/12-bit video D/A converter with progressive-scan component video output and 3:2 pulldown for improved DVD video clarity on HD-compatible displays. For audio, it uses 192 kHz/24-bit DACs with Onkyo's Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry (VLSC) and a Direct Digital Path layout to reduce noise and deliver smoother, more detailed analog output. The player includes built-in Dolby Digital and DTS decoding with 5.1-channel analog outputs, plus an additional pair of analog outputs that allow use with 7.1-channel A/V receivers, along with optical and coaxial digital audio outputs for external decoding. Bass management functions cover speaker size, distance, and level settings, and there is a video bypass mode to shut off video circuitry during music-only listening. Connectivity includes composite video, S-Video, and component video outputs; there is no HDMI or IEEE 1394/FireWire port. The six-disc carousel lets you change up to five discs while one continues playing, supports random and repeat modes, and offers a supplied remote with direct track/disc access and RI control jacks for integration with other Onkyo components. The DV-CP802 features a deluxe heavyweight chassis, is available in black or silver finishes, measuring approximately 17-1/8 inches wide and weighing about 17.8 lb.
