About the One Degree
The One Degree turntable, designed and hand-assembled by Aleks Bakman, a NASA-awarded aerospace engineer, is a fundamentally reinvented analog vinyl disk turntable. It features a self-centering, non-resonant platter bearing based on smart fluid technology that eliminates platter spindle instability, a major cause of acoustic distortion. The turntable includes a noiseless, noise-canceling drive system controlled by a microprocessor that cancels mechanical resonances. The 70 lb metallic platter spindle is internally damped with viscous liquid and solid particles to suppress resonances, and the record is clamped by a damped, automatically centered ring for distortion-free playback at high volumes. The tonearm tower supports continuous, smooth vertical tracking angle adjustment over three inches and can accommodate up to four tonearms simultaneously. The entire assembly weighs 120 lb and is finished with 24 carat gold plating and aerospace-grade metals. The suspension system is resonance-free, using viscous, incompressible liquid to suspend the platter, blocking environmental vibrations and eliminating resonance conditions. This turntable is
