About the 06M
The Olive 06M (also known as 06HD) is an audiophile-grade music server designed for high-resolution digital audio playback. It incorporates three Texas Instruments Burr-Brown PCM1792 DACs with 24-bit resolution and 192kHz sampling rate; two DACs operate in mono for left and right channels, and a third DAC drives the onboard headphone amplifier. The server uses a TI SRC4194 asynchronous sample-rate converter to upsample audio signals to 24-bit/384kHz to reduce jitter and improve sound quality. It features separate linear power supplies for analog and digital circuits, a custom toroidal transformer to minimize magnetic interference, and an AC line filter for clean power delivery. The 06M includes a 2TB hard drive with eight layers of vibration damping and a quiet TEAC CD player/burner that can rip CDs automatically, transcoding tracks and downloading metadata and album art. Music libraries can be managed via a web interface and transferred over the network. Connectivity includes gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi (802.11n), HDMI, and USB 2.0 ports (USB is for backup and software updates only). The device supports streaming to multiple rooms and offers a 10-inch glass touchscreen for control. It is designed and assembled in San Francisco with a focus on premium build quality and audiophile sound performance, boasting a total harmonic distortion plus noise (THD+N) of 0.0007%, a signal-to-noise ratio of 124dB, and a dynamic range of 121dB. The Olive 06M is a flagship product aimed at serious music enthusiasts seeking a high-fidelity digital music server with integrated ripping, storage, and playback capabilities.
