The Olive 04HD is a self-contained music server designed for audiophiles, combining CD ripping, storage, and playback in one unit. It features a built-in 2TB hard drive for storing ripped CDs and supports playback of files stored on other networked devices with compatible software. The device uses a proprietary DAC centered on a Burr-Brown 1792A chipset, supporting 24-bit/192kHz audio playback. It offers both digital and analog outputs, including coaxial and optical digital inputs and outputs, and a USB port for backup purposes. The 04HD has a fan-less cooling design for silent operation and a brushed aluminum chassis available in black or silver. The front panel includes a touchscreen for browsing music by artist, album, or genre, and hardwired buttons for navigation. It supports multi-room expansion and internet radio streaming. The sound is described as neutral and highly detailed, with excellent clarity and dynamics.
