About the Acoustics Walsh 5
The Ohm Walsh 5 loudspeaker is a flagship model from Ohm Acoustics, utilizing the patented Walsh Coherent Line Source (CLS) driver technology developed by Lincoln Walsh. This driver operates over a broad frequency range (approximately 25Hz to 25kHz) and produces a coherent cylindrical soundfield around the inverted cone driver. The speaker includes a titanium-dome supertweeter to extend high-frequency response. The Walsh 5 is a two-way, floorstanding, reflex-loaded design with a ported enclosure measuring 17.5" x 17.5" at the base tapering to 15" x 15" at the top, standing 43" tall and weighing about 95 lbs each. It has a sensitivity of 90 dB/2.83V/m and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, requiring 50 to 500 watts of amplifier power. The speaker features three-position slide switches near the binding posts for adjusting low frequency, high frequency, and perspective to tailor sound to room acoustics. Originally It is highly regarded for its clarity, stereo imaging, and realistic sound reproduction, with a wide sweet spot and omni-directional dispersion characteristics that reduce room placement sensitivity.
