The Oehlbach Series 80 is a premium optical digital audio cable for connecting equipment such as CD/DVD/Blu-ray players, televisions, AV receivers, game consoles, sound cards and other devices equipped with TOSLINK optical interfaces. Its patented construction uses 217 individual polymer optical-fiber strands to provide high optical luminosity and a claimed data-transmission capability of up to 125 Mbps. It is factory-terminated with matching straight metal TOSLINK plugs and is intended for bidirectional digital-audio transmission. Oehlbach lists 24-karat gold-plated contacts, German Technology and a 30-year warranty. The Series 80 is offered in multiple lengths, including 0.5 m, 1 m, 3 m, 5 m, 7.5 m, 10 m and 50 m variants depending on market and product listing. The available evidence indicates that it remains an active Oehlbach product family rather than being discontinued.
