About the HP 700 SE
The Octave HP 700 SE is a tube preamplifier that builds on a legacy of over 30 years of development, originating from the classic HP 500 model. It features a modular design that allows users to customize inputs and functions to their preferences. The SE version introduces two parallel XLR outputs alongside two RCA outputs for bi-amping and includes sonic refinements to the Class A output stage for improved mid-tone performance. It uses precision tube technology with an extreme bandwidth up to 1 MHz, low output resistance, and very low distortion (0.001%). The preamplifier is equipped with an external magnetically shielded power supply with advanced voltage stabilization and soft-start electronics to maximize tube life and operational reliability. It offers three selectable amplification levels to match speaker efficiency and selectable output impedance for optimal system integration. Additional features include a multi-channel bypass for home theater integration, optional phono RIAA modules with improved signal-to-noise ratio and bandwidth, precision valve-based tone and balance controls, and an optional 47-position stepped volume attenuator for minimal distortion. The unit is available in silver or black finish and weighs 10 kg (main unit) plus 3.8 kg (power supply).
