The NVO SPA-One SE is a sophisticated phono preamplifier designed and hand-built by Andreas Hadjiminas of NVO Audio in Cyprus. It uses 13 vacuum tubes including Russian 6C45П tubes for low noise input stages, three 12AX7 tubes for RIAA equalization, and a 12AU7 tube for a low impedance cathode follower output stage. The unit features a separate power supply with high voltage and heater regulators to ensure ultra-low noise and high dynamic range. It supports both moving coil (MC) and moving magnet (MM) cartridges with selectable gain settings (60dB for MC and 50dB for MM) and precise input loading options. The frequency response spans 20Hz to 200kHz within 0.5dB of the RIAA curve, with total harmonic distortion below 0.05% in MC mode and below 0.005% in MM mode. The SPA-One SE is housed in a single chassis with a specially designed power transformer encased in magnetic isolation material to minimize hum. It uses premium components such as Japanese KIWAME resistors, Mundorf MKP capacitors, Nichicon EL capacitors, and 7N solid core wiring. The enclosure features 10mm aluminum front plates and internal damping to reduce microphony.
