About the Valhalla
The Nordost Valhalla interconnect is a premium analog audio cable consisting of 8 conductors made from solid, optimized diameter 99.999999% oxygen-free copper, each plated with 78 microns of silver. Each conductor is highly polished and wrapped with a precision micro mono-filament spacer, then extruded with a high purity class 1 FEP tube. The eight FEP tubes are bonded using a proprietary technique to form a tubular cable enclosed in dual layers of silver shielding. This design reduces dielectric contact by over 80%, providing extreme mechanical stability and preventing oxidation. The cable features low capacitance (22pF/ft) and low inductance (0.055µH/ft), with a propagation delay of 87% the speed of light. It is terminated with Nordost's ground-before-hot Moonglo RCA plugs or other connectors as appropriate. The Valhalla interconnect is known for its clean, open, and airy sound, with excellent soundstage expansion and detailed instrument separation, though it has a slightly lighter, drier tonal balance with a touch cooler overall presentation. It was introduced around 2001 and has been succeeded by the Valhalla 2 and Valhalla 2 Reference models, which feature further technological advancements.
