About the NCD-700
The Nikko NCD-700 is a multi-disc CD changer manufactured by Nikko during the 1980s, designed to integrate with Nikko's amplifier and tuner series. It supports up to 60 discs when multiple units are linked, with a 16-bit linear converter ensuring high-quality digital audio playback. The frequency response ranges from 10 Hz to 20,000 Hz, with a dynamic range of 85 dB and a signal-to-noise ratio of 100 dB, providing clear and detailed sound reproduction. Distortion is very low at 0.005% (1 kHz), and channel separation is excellent at 90 dB (1 kHz). The unit includes features such as shuffle and title programming, plays CD-R discs but not CD-RW, and has adjustable line output levels and a headphone jack. It does not support CD-Text or MP3 playback. Dimensions and weight are typical for a multi-disc changer of its era, and it was originally priced around 1,800 USD. The NCD-700 complements Nikko's amplifier models like NA-340, NA-540, NA-700 II, NA-950, NA-1050, and NA-2000, as well as tuners such as the Gamma 30 and NT-700 II.
