The Neurochrome DIY Modulus 286 Monoblocks are high-performance Class-AB power amplifiers delivering 125 watts into 4 ohms and 65 watts into 8 ohms. They are based on a composite design using two LM3886 amplifier ICs operated in parallel, enhanced with Neurochrome's proprietary error correction technology implemented via an LM4562 precision op-amp. This design achieves ultra-low total harmonic distortion (THD) below 1 ppm (0.0001%) even at full power, resulting in clear, precise, and fatigue-free sound reproduction. The third revision of the Modulus-286 features an optimized PCB layout and a compact form factor with large heatsinks for effective thermal management. Unlike traditional Class-AB amplifiers, the Modulus-286 uses a switching power supply to reduce size and weight. The amplifier is well-suited for a wide range of speaker types, including planar and cone speakers, and is highly regarded for its sonic clarity and low distortion performance. The DIY kit includes all necessary circuit boards and wiring harnesses for assembly.
