About the NAP 500 DR

The Naim NAP 500 DR is the reference 500 Series two-channel power amplifier, delivering 140W per channel into 8 ohms in a bridged Class AB configuration with ten stages of local regulation per channel for maximised open- and closed-loop speed and low distortion. It uses Naim's NA009 output transistors, developed with a specialist semiconductor partner and first introduced in the Statement amplifiers, together with Naim's DR (Discrete Regulator) power supply technology to provide a smooth, stable supply rail and minimise thermally induced noise. The NAP 500 DR has a classic two-box design, separating the amplifier chassis from the dedicated 500 PS power supply, whose 1,100VA toroidal transformer provides 12 raw DC supplies for the output stage, improving rejection of mains-borne noise and electromagnetic interference. This design allows prolonged output into 2-ohm loads with no discernible impact on performance. The amplifier chassis weighs around 25kg and features a brushed black-anodised finish with large heatsinks and a variable-speed intelligent fan system for discreet additional cooling when required. The NAP 500 DR is typically supplied with the matching 500 PS power supply, Power-Line mains cable, and Burndy interconnect.
