The Naim Audio NAT-01 is considered by many enthusiasts as one of the best source components ever made by Naim. It features a Naim-designed and built tuner head optimized for superior sound quality rather than maximum sensitivity, requiring a high-quality aerial such as the Ron Smith Galaxie G17 for best performance. The tuner covers the VHF/FM band from 87.5 to 108 MHz, with an output level of 400mV per channel at 100% modulation. It has a distinctive Olive casing and was produced until parts supply issues led to its discontinuation. The NAT-01 includes a frequency display that brightens when a station is tuned accurately, a signal strength indicator, and a stereo indicator that lights for stereo broadcasts. It requires a preamplifier load of more than 10K ohms and is powered via a NAPST power supply. The tuner is highly regarded for its musicality and realism, often preferred over digital sources for live broadcasts. Service and parts are still available from Naim, although early units with fluorescent displays may have fading issues. The NAT-01 was typically paired with the NAPST power supply and interconnect cables using 5-pin DIN connectors. Dimensions are 76 x 205 x 300 mm (H x W x D).
