About the PMA

The Nagra PMA is a pair of mono-block, floor-standing pyramid-shaped solid-state Class AB power amplifiers manufactured from 2005 to 2009. Each monoblock delivers 200 W RMS into 8 ohms with a bandwidth of 10 Hz to 70 kHz (+0 / -3 dB) and typically 104 dB signal-to-noise ratio. Derived from the MPA family, the PMA uses a custom switching power supply with power factor correction to stabilize mains loading and improve power delivery, and it incorporates automatic power-saving/auto on-off control plus comprehensive protection circuits against over-temperature, DC offset, and clipping. Connectivity includes balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs with selectable input sensitivity (1 V or 2 V) and high-quality WBT speaker terminals, while the sonic design goal is natural transparency and clarity in a compact 38 x 38 x 30 cm, 10 kg pyramid chassis per monoblock. Now discontinued, it is listed by Nagra among its historical products.
