About the MELODY

The Nagra MELODY is a Swiss-made solid-state line preamplifier that establishes new levels in sonic transparency and exactitude, built exclusively from discrete audiophile-grade components with individually tested and matched transistors. It preserves Nagra's traditional ergonomics and styling, including the signature front-panel modulometer indicating output signal level, and offers remote-controllable volume and mute functions. A front-panel gain switch provides an additional 12 dB of gain to accommodate source components with weak output levels. Connectivity includes five line-level RCA inputs and two switchable outputs, one on RCA and one on XLR, with the XLR output bridgeable to the XLR input for home-cinema applications. The MELODY can be factory- or dealer-equipped with an internal high-performance phono module inspired by the Nagra BPS phono preamplifier; this optional board accepts both MM and MC cartridges and uses Nagra hand-wound step-up transformers identical to those in the BPS and VPS. The preamplifier can be powered from its standard supply or upgraded with external units such as the Nagra ACPS II or the Nagra MPS multiple power supply, and is compatible with Nagra's VFS vibration isolation platform.
