About the VPS

The Nagra VPS is a premium hybrid phono preamplifier featuring a tube-based design with an optional solid-state buffer stage for enhanced gain and output levels. It supports both moving magnet (MM) and moving coil (MC) cartridges via configurable input circuits with in-house wound input transformers providing 11dB gain for MC. Standard configuration includes one MM/MC input (A), with optional second input (B) for MM or MC. The unit offers two output modes: low (300mV direct from tubes) and high (2V via solid-state stage). Rear-panel controls allow switching between Hi/Lo output, RIAA/IEC equalization, and input selection. It uses gold-plated WBT RCA inputs/outputs and asymmetrical XLR outputs. Power is supplied via external 12V DC (ACPS II or MPS compatible), with low standby consumption. Modular load cards (6 supplied: 3 resistive, 3 capacitive; 3 custom on request) enable precise cartridge matching. Dimensions match Nagra's compact footprint, ideal for high-end analog setups.
