About the PL-P

The Nagra PL-P is a Swiss-made, battery-powered pure-class-A tube preamplifier with an integrated high-precision phono stage. Its phono section supports moving-coil and moving-magnet cartridges, with selectable loading and rumble-filter settings; the moving-coil input uses a transformer-coupled design. The eight-tube complement comprises one 12AT7 and one 12AX7 in the phono stage, plus two 12AT7 and four 12AX7 tubes in the line stage. Eight rechargeable D-size nickel-cadmium cells power the unit through an external AC power supply, helping isolate the audio circuitry from mains-related noise. Features include multiple line inputs, a tape loop, headphone outputs, and Nagra’s modulometer for level monitoring. The PL-P was introduced in 1997 and is listed by Nagra among its historical products.
