About the HD Preamp
The Nagra HD Preamp is a reference-level tube line preamplifier developed over several years by Nagra's R&D team to achieve extremely low noise, very wide bandwidth, and maximum musical transparency. It uses a dual-mono architecture with separate channels in a single chassis and a tube signal path without feedback, and it is powered by an external bank of super-capacitors (SuperCap power supply) to provide exceptionally low noise and very high current capability. The HD Preamp features Nagra's patented transformer-based volume control using in-house shielded toroidal audio transformers for precise, low-loss attenuation, and incorporates advanced mechanical vibration control with a two-chassis layout (audio unit plus power supply) on anti-vibration bases. With a claimed signal-to-noise ratio around 160 dB and a frequency response from 5 Hz to 200 kHz, it is designed as the ideal companion to the Nagra HD AMP power amplifier and as the control center of Nagra's HD line systems.
