The Nagaoka MP-50II is an updated version of the classic MP-50 moving magnet cartridge, designed to deliver high fidelity and refined sound with a superfine line contact diamond stylus and a boron cantilever typically found in more expensive cartridges. It offers an output voltage of approximately 3 mV at 5 cm/sec, frequency response from 20 Hz to 25,000 Hz, channel separation greater than 27 dB at 1 kHz, and channel balance better than 1 dB. The cartridge weighs about 8 grams and has a recommended tracking force range of 1.3 to 1.8 grams. It is designed for a 47 kΩ load resistance and features a durable construction with a metal body. The stylus replacement interval is generally recommended after 150-200 hours of use to maintain optimal sound quality and protect vinyl grooves. The MP-50II is noted for its slightly euphonic sound character, excellent tracking ability, and balanced tonal presentation, making it a valued choice for audiophiles seeking a high-quality moving magnet cartridge at a moderate price point. It is no longer in production but remains sought after in the used market.
