The Mytek Stereo192 DSD DAC is a versatile audiophile-grade DAC featuring the ESS 32-bit Sabre chipset capable of decoding PCM audio up to 32-bit/192kHz and native DSD64x and DSD128x formats. It offers multiple digital inputs including USB 1.1 (driver-free, up to 96kHz), USB 2.0 (requires driver, up to 192kHz and DSD128), FireWire (up to 192kHz and DSD128), AES/EBU, SPDIF coaxial, optical (TOSlink), and ADAT. The DAC supports asynchronous USB 2.0 and FireWire interfaces for high compatibility with Windows and Mac systems. It includes balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog outputs, an unbalanced RCA analog input (preamp version), a headphone amplifier with a 6.3mm jack, and a word clock input/output for synchronization. The device features selectable PCM filters, adjustable DSD filters, internal hardware upsampling to 192kHz/24-bit (can be disabled), and both analog and digital volume controls with bypass options. The front panel has a volume knob that also navigates the menu, a blue LED display showing volume and sample rate, and optional LED VU meters. The DAC is housed in a compact steel and aluminum chassis with a simple, elegant design. It is available in preamp and mastering versions, with the mastering version including DSD SDIF inputs instead of analog inputs. The DAC is noted for its low jitter clock, high signal-to-noise ratio (better than -120 dB), and high-quality analog components such as metal resistors and capacitors for pristine sound quality. While the DAC delivers excellent sound and measurement performance, it requires driver installation for full USB 2.0 functionality and may face future compatibility issues with newer operating systems.
