The Music Hall MMF-5.3 is a fully manual, two-speed belt-driven turntable featuring Music Hall's dual-plinth design that mounts the platter, main bearing, tonearm, and cartridge on the upper platform and isolates them from the motor, switch, wiring, and feet on the lower platform using viso-elastic cones for effective vibration damping. It comes in a high-gloss piano black lacquer finish (walnut finish variant available from some retailers), and includes a 9-inch carbon-fiber tonearm with precision bearings and a decoupled counterweight that acts as a resonance damper. Vertical tracking angle (VTA) and azimuth are adjustable, allowing optimization with different cartridges. A separately isolated DC synchronous motor with a two-step motor pulley provides 33 1/3 and 45 rpm speeds (manual belt change), ensuring stable, accurate rotation. The turntable uses a precision stainless-steel main bearing sheathed in Teflon for low-noise, fluid operation, and a dynamically balanced alloy platter (approximately 300mm diameter) with a soft felt mat and metal screw-on record clamp. Connectivity features include gold-plated RCA output jacks with a detachable phono cable, vibration-damping adjustable feet, a built-in round spirit level, a dust cover, and a 45 rpm adapter. The MMF-5.3 is supplied factory-mounted and aligned with an Ortofon 2M Blue moving-magnet cartridge featuring a replaceable nude elliptical diamond stylus, making setup straightforward. It does not include a built-in phono preamp and requires an external phono stage.
