About the Classic V2

The Music First Audio Classic V2 is a transformer-volume-control (TVC) passive line preamplifier. It uses one transformer per channel and no active gain circuitry or power supply in the signal path. Its Classic V2 transformers use a core stated to be 25% larger than those in the Baby Classic, with an improved winding structure intended to improve stereo imaging, low-frequency performance, and high-level handling. A rear-panel +6 dB option can configure the transformer windings for step-up operation for lower-output source components; in normal operation it is unity gain. Input and output connector configurations are configurable, with up to five stereo input pairs selectable as RCA or XLR and two output pairs. Copper windings are standard; silver-wire transformer versions have been offered as a custom option. The manufacturer states that each unit undergoes 50 hours of in-house burn-in before shipment. It is available in black or silver casework.
