About the Analog

The MSB Analog DAC is a high-end, modular digital-to-analog converter, CNC-machined from a single block of aluminum in an ultra-low-profile chassis that rests on four sharp spikes. It offers up to three interchangeable digital input modules (coaxial, TosLink, AES/EBU, MSB Network PRO I2S, various USB options, and renderer/streamer modules), plus an optional RCA analog input, allowing flexible connection to multiple digital sources. The unit supports PCM up to 32-bit/384 kHz and DSD 64/128 natively, with optional Quad DSD USB modules extending support to DSD 256, processed through MSB's discrete ladder DAC architecture. A passive, relay-switched stepped volume control (optional and must be factory-ordered) enables direct connection to power amplifiers, turning the Analog DAC into a minimalist digital preamplifier. MSB's proprietary ultra-low-jitter clocking (often described as Femto Second technology in reviews) and 80-bit internal digital processing are employed for precise timing and high dynamic range. External power supplies, starting with the Basic Desktop supply and upgradable to the Analog Power Base, provide improved performance and are part of the product's modular upgrade path.
