About the 401 HR Tube Hybrid Poweramp
The Moscode 401HR is a high-end tube hybrid stereo power amplifier designed by George Kaye, combining a tube driver stage with a MOSFET power output stage. It delivers 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms and over 300 watts into 4 ohms, suitable for demanding speaker loads. The amplifier uses a variety of compatible tubes including 6H30Pi, 6GU7, 6DJ8, 6922, 6FQ7, 5814, 7730, or 12AU7, with two 6H30Pi and two 6GU7 tubes supplied. It features a minimalist wiring design with O2-free copper binding posts, shock-mounted circuit boards to reduce microphonics, and hand-wired audio paths for superior signal integrity. The 401HR includes an Auto Filament Switcher for tube compatibility and a flip-down tube door for easy tube installation. It has a frequency response of 10Hz to 100kHz (+/-0.2dB), total harmonic distortion around 0.15% at full power, and a voltage gain of approximately 30-33 dB depending on tubes used. The amplifier weighs about 52 lbs and measures 19" wide by 14.5" deep by 6.25" high. It is sold direct from Moscode with a 3-year warranty on parts and labor and a 33 1/3-day in-home audition period. The The design honors Harvey "Gizmo" Rosenberg, a pioneer in tube amplifier design.
