About the SP3

The Montana SP3 is a highly acclaimed high-end loudspeaker manufactured in the USA, praised for its extraordinary musical realism and transparency. It features a unique cabinet design subdividing the internal volume into a pseudo-sealed box and a vented one, enabling surprising bass performance. The speaker uses two 7" Vifa mid-woofers and a 1" fabric-dome ring radiator tweeter, housed in a rigid, vibration-resistant cabinet with an asymmetrical shape to minimize distortion. The crossover network employs metalized polypropylene capacitors for superb transparency in the upper octaves. Despite its small footprint (barely over one square foot) and height of 47", the SP3 delivers a huge acoustic image and is compatible with a wide range of amplifiers, from modest tube amps to powerful solid-state designs. It has been recommended by Stereophile since 1997 and reviewed positively for its lifelike midrange and airy top octaves. The finish options include exclusive real wood veneers or piano lacquer, with a notable example being a beautiful oak crosscut fiddleback finish. Bi-wiring is recommended to reduce interference between crossover sections.
