The ModWright Sony NS9100ES is a high-end modified SACD/DVD player originally based on the Sony NS9100ES model. ModWright upgrades include a custom tube analog output stage using two 5687 tubes, custom capacitors, and a separate outboard power supply with tube rectification (Sovtek 5AR4). The power supply is robust, featuring two transformers, a choke for filtering, and a custom umbilical cord connecting it to the main unit. The transport mechanism is Sony's standard mid-fi quality but enhanced with mass and vibration damping for improved performance. The analog output stage is carefully integrated into the player, with tubes protruding from the rear top panel. This modification aims to improve the analog audio quality while maintaining the reliable digital transport and video capabilities of the Sony NS9100ES. The player supports DVD-Video, SACD, CD, and various disc formats, with digital video upconversion and selectable HDMI output resolutions.
