About the Zero

The Miyajima Labs Zero is a premium monaural moving coil phono cartridge designed exclusively for mono LP playback. It features a non-magnetic African blackwood body that enhances sound quality by reducing magnetic interference. The cartridge uses a patented vertical axis concentration method to minimize coil blurring and lateral needle movement, resulting in highly precise sound reproduction. It has an output level of 0.4mV and an impedance of about 6 ohms, making it compatible with a wide range of moving coil phono preamps. The Zero supports a tracking force range of 2.0 to 4.5 grams, with 3.5 grams recommended. It offers two stylus options: a 1.0 mil conical stylus for deep groove mono LPs from the 1950s and a 0.7 mil conical stylus suitable for reissue mono LPs and those pressed after 1960. The cartridge weighs approximately 11.8 grams and operates best at temperatures between 20-30°C (68-86°F). It is highly regarded for its clear sound quality, improved image focus, transient detail, and bass control, making it a top choice for mono LP enthusiasts. The Zero cannot play stereo LPs as it only tracks horizontal grooves. It has won accolades such as the "2015 Class A Recommended Component" by Stereophile and the "PFO Writers’ Choice Award, 2014."
