About the Pilastro
The Mission Pilastro loudspeaker, launched in 2001, represents the pinnacle of Mission's research and development efforts. It is a three-way, ABR-loaded floorstanding loudspeaker with a 1.25" ferrofluid-cooled ring-dome tweeter, two 6.5" natural hemp-cone midrange drivers, four 8" air-dried Nomex-cone woofers, and six 8" air-dried Nomex-cone Auxiliary Bass Radiators (ABR). The crossover uses acoustic second-order filter slopes at 110Hz and 2.2kHz. It offers a frequency response of 25Hz to 48kHz (±3dB), with -6dB at 22Hz, and a sensitivity of 95dB/2.83V/m. Nominal impedance is 6 ohms (minimum 3.2 ohms), and recommended amplifier power ranges from 15 to 500 watts. The enclosure volume is 82 liters, and the speaker weighs 341 lbs (155 kg) each. Dimensions are 57.5" (1460mm) high, 12.2" (309mm) wide, and 20.1" (510mm) deep. The Pilastro features a high-quality finish with options including mirror-gloss silver lacquer and cherrywood veneer. It is noted for its superb clarity, lack of coloration, and natural sound presentation, with a unique driver arrangement that cancels vibrations for precise musical note articulation. The Pilastro is considered a 'superspeaker' with high sensitivity, huge bandwidth, and explosive dynamic range, suitable for medium to large rooms and demanding audiophile applications.
