About the OM-R2

The Mirage OM-R2 is a vented 2-way omnipolar surround speaker intended for wall mounting, with a shallow depth of 5.25" to minimize visual intrusion. It features dual 1" PTH (Pure Titanium Hybrid) tweeters arranged on the sides in a wedge shape, a 6.5" polypropylene woofer, and a 5.5" passive radiator to enhance bass response. The omnipolar design radiates sound in a 360-degree pattern, providing wide and even dispersion that energizes the entire room and expands the sweet spot for surround sound. This design allows the soundstage to remain consistent even as the listener moves around the room, unlike typical forward-firing speakers. The OM-R2 is part of Mirage's OM series, designed by Ian Paisley, and is often paired with other OM series speakers such as the OM-7 and OM-C2 for home theater surround sound systems. It has dual five-way binding posts suitable for bi-amping or bi-wiring. The cabinet is typically finished in black ash or high gloss black, with dimensions approximately 5.25" depth and designed for unobtrusive wall mounting. The speaker is no longer in current production but remains popular among enthusiasts for its unique omnipolar surround sound characteristics.
