About the VX-7B
The Miller and Kreisel VX-7B is an active subwoofer from the 1990s known for its compact size and surprisingly strong performance given its modest 8-inch woofer and around 50-60 watts of power output. It uses a Sanyo STK4040V mono power amplifier IC module. The subwoofer includes a low pass filter (LPF) adjustable typically between 60-80 Hz, a bass level control, and speaker-level high-pass filter outputs to reduce bass load on satellite speakers. It is designed to integrate well with M&K satellite speakers and other home theater systems, providing tight, well-defined bass without overwhelming the listening environment. The VX-7B is a sealed cabinet design and is appreciated for its tonal quality and ease of dialing in the sound. It does not have a power switch and remains on when plugged in. The unit is no longer in production but remains sought after for its sound quality and compact footprint.
