About the DUO.Pro BS
The Micromega DUO.Pro BS DAC is part of the Micromega Duo series introduced in the early 1990s, which separates CD playback into a transport and a DAC for improved sound quality. The DUO.Pro BS uses a 1-bit PDM bitstream digital-to-analog conversion technology with 256 times oversampling, chosen for its excellent linearity and musical performance at very low signal levels, which is difficult to achieve with multi-bit systems. It features multiple regulated power supplies (ten separate regulated supplies) to minimize crosstalk between digital and analog signals. The analog output stages operate in class A without feedback, using bipolar technology with a low output impedance of 10 ohms. The DAC supports two channels with a frequency response from 2 Hz to 20 kHz, a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 90 dB, and harmonic distortion below 0.09%. It accepts digital inputs via coaxial and optical connections with 0.5 V P-P at 75 ohms and a sampling frequency of 44.1 kHz. The unit weighs approximately 1.5 kg and consumes about 5 W of power. The DUO.Pro BS is designed to be used with the Duo CD transport and is noted for delivering a significant step up in resolution and dynamics compared to earlier models in the Duo series, including balanced outputs and high-quality analog components for refined sound reproduction.
