The Michell Engineering TecnoArm 2 is a high-performance tonearm based on the Rega RB250 design, extensively rebuilt and enhanced for audiophile use. It features a custom one-piece aluminum arm tube that is shot-blasted for rigidity and drilled with 22 holes underneath to reduce mass and resonance. The integral headshell is machined perfectly parallel to the bearing position to ensure accurate azimuth. The tonearm uses ultra-low friction polymer bearings and a redesigned mounting base for stability and precision. It is wired with Michell's proprietary wiring loom using 99.9999% pure silver litz wire from cartridge tags to phono plugs, with no internal wiring joints, ensuring a pure and high-fidelity signal path. The TecnoWeight counterweight system allows easy and precise tracking force adjustment, supporting cartridges weighing 4 to 13 grams. The VTA/SRA adjuster enables fine vertical tracking angle and tonearm height calibration for optimal stylus alignment. The tonearm has an effective mass of 12.5 grams, an effective length of 237 mm, pivot to spindle distance of 222 mm, overhang of 15 mm, and an offset angle of 21.63°. It is compatible with turntables using a Rega mount, including Michell's Gyrodec and Orbe models, especially those with 'Double Brace Technology'. The design emphasizes low resonance, stable friction-free movement, and high acoustic fidelity, offering performance comparable to tonearms costing three times as much.
