The Michell Engineering Gyrodec LE mkII is a sophisticated suspended turntable designed for audiophile performance. It features a three-point spring suspension system with a weighted pendulum-style sub-chassis that isolates the main bearing, platter, and tonearm assembly from external vibrations. The main bearing is an inverted oil circulating design with the point of rotation at the top, lubricated continuously by a modified Archimedean screw mechanism, reducing friction and noise. The impedance-matched platter is made from a vibration-dampening material similar to vinyl and includes solid brass weights to increase mass and momentum, improving speed stability and minimizing wow and flutter. The motor unit is free-standing and isolated from the turntable, connected only by the drive belt, preventing motor vibrations from affecting playback. The turntable includes a hinged clear acrylic lid for dust protection and a record clamp to flatten warped vinyl and reduce resonance. Dimensions are approximately 53cm width, 41cm depth, and 19cm height, with a weight of 14kg.
