The Meze Audio 99 NEO is a closed-back, wired, over-ear headphone that offers the brand's characteristic warm, balanced, and detailed sound in a more contemporary, all-black design. It uses 40 mm dynamic neodymium/Mylar drivers in sealed ABS plastic ear cups to deliver a natural, low-distortion presentation with a wide, immersive soundstage suitable for music listening, gaming, podcasts, and home office use. The 99 NEO features a self-adjusting manganese spring steel headband with a suspended faux-leather strap, and replaceable large circumaural ear pads for long-term comfort. Hardware elements such as the cast zinc alloy yokes and electroplated fittings mirror the construction of the 99 Classics while adopting matte coal-black textured finishes instead of wood. Detachable Kevlar-reinforced OFC cables with dual 3.5 mm TS connectors at the cups and a 3.5 mm stereo mini-plug at the source are included, with versions that add an inline mic/remote for calls, conferencing, and casual gaming; compatibility with Meze's optional Boom Mic further extends its utility for dedicated gaming and remote work setups. The design is fully serviceable, with user-replaceable cables and pads, and is tuned for an articulate, slightly warm sound signature that remains clear and controlled across the rated 15 Hz-25 kHz frequency range.
