About the Solitaire

The Metaxas Audio Systems Solitaire is a high-speed, dual-mono Class AB stereo power amplifier designed and manufactured by the Australian company Metaxas. It uses two independent amplifier channels that share a large 1,600 W laminated power transformer, with a short signal path, very high slew rate, low specified distortion, and a wide operating bandwidth. The Solitaire was also offered in later or contemporary form as a 150 W per channel stereo integrated amplifier, while the conventional Solitaire power amplifier is documented with both 130 W and 150 W per channel ratings depending on version and specification sheet. The product incorporates DC monitoring, output-stage fusing, and a relay in the speaker path to protect against detected DC. Historical documentation identifies the amplifier as an Australian product from the 1990s era; current Metaxas material continues to present a Solitaire product, so the original power-amplifier version should not be assumed to be discontinued without verifying the exact model and serial number.
