About the MP12

The Melton Audio MP-12 is a compact 2-way passive loudspeaker system designed for versatile audio applications. It employs a single 12-inch long excursion, low distortion cone driver for low frequencies, mounted in a B-6 type vented enclosure. The high frequency section uses a 1-inch ferro fluid cooled compression driver coupled to a 40°/90° by 60° asymmetrical horn, which is rotatable to allow flexible coverage patterns. The system includes a low loss 2-way passive crossover filter designed for flat frequency response and optimal phase alignment. It features high efficiency, low distortion, and processor controlled design elements. The cabinet is constructed from 15mm plywood with a black epoxy finish, equipped with aircraft L-track rigging fittings and a 35mm tube stand adapter. Protective elements include a hexagonal perforated 1.6mm steel grill with charcoal grey foam. Connectivity is via two Neutrik Speakon NL4MP connectors wired in parallel. The MP-12 delivers a frequency response of 55Hz to 20kHz (+/-3dB), maximum peak SPL of 131dB, nominal impedance of 8 Ohms, and AES power handling of 400W. The cabinet dimensions are 698 x 360 x 365 mm and it weighs 22 kg.
